Earth Day 2011

Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to watch a TV for three hours - it's equivalent to half a gallon of gasoline.

Hello Kitty shopping bags are made from biodegradable plastic.

In the U.S. alone, if every newspaper was recycled, we could save about 250,000,000 trees each year.

More than 20,000,000 Hershey's Kisses are wrapped each day, using 133 square miles of tinfoil. All that foil is recyclable, but not many people realize it.

On Earth Day last year, 1.2 million people got free coffee or tea by bringing their own mugs to Starbucks in Canada and the U.S. keeping 145 million pounds of paper out of landfills.

So maybe we can make little changes today? Switching to energy saving lightbulbs, subscribing to papers online, using water more efficiently, printing only what's really necessary, there's so much we can do : )
