Ribbon Roses and Thoughts on Tinkering

I recently read a book that got me thinking about art. And artists.

There's a quote that goes something like, "An artist never really finishes his work, he merely abandons it."

True, don't you think? In painting, in writing, in cooking, in LIFE, really - there's only so much tweaking and tinkering that can be done before one goes completely mental.

So, I wonder, is that where real genius lives?

In knowing when to stop?

  1. totally cute cake! you've really developed a style that is cutely recognizable, i think! love the rosettes.

i wonder that sometimes with paintings that are worked on for years... you can continue to add things here or there, or want to redo certain parts... but yeah it's very hard to tell when things are done somtimes! (except our precious cakes, right? :)
